    Michigan State Honors Dick Kernen

    Some people celebrate Independence day with fireworks and grilling, Dick Kernen on the other hand celebrates by being honored with a tribute.

    This past Independence day,  Specs Howard's Vice President of Industry Relations was presented with a Special Tribute from the State of Michigan. "It came as a total surprise,"  Dick Kernen later said about award,  "I was shocked at what was happening."

    Michigan State Rep George Darany presented Dick with the "Special Tribute to Dick Kernen" ,which was also signed by State Senator Morris Hood III, and Governor Rick Snyder, to Dick during a family party. The tribute was for Dick's forty years of service at Specs Howard School of Media Arts, and for being such a cornerstone of the broadcast industry in Michigan. "It was an honor to receive something so special with family around me," Dick said, "even better; it was the first award I received while wearing shorts!"
