The Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association (DSBA) is an organization comprised of local sports media professionals and students. In addition to putting on both social and philanthropic events, they also provide scholarships to Specs Howard School of Media Arts students. Each year, two students are awarded the $500 scholarship after a competitive application process.
The DSBA is able to continue with this charitable effort thanks to generous donations from their members and sponsors in addition to fundraising efforts. This year, they raised enough money to give away three scholarships. Jeff Adams, Chase Numbers and Jason Watson were the recipients. Al three are recent graduates of Specs and have not only shown great promise as future media professionals, but each has secured employment or an internship within the field!
Jeff recently accepted a position with Buckeye CableSystem (BCSN) in Ohio as a producton assistant. Chase is interning with Palace Sports and Entertainment, and just became the Director of Media Relations for Rochester College's Hockey program. Jason works full time while also interning with Greater Media Detroit in the promotions department. Congratulations to all three recipients!
